20 Dry-Type Transformers + 10 Box-Type Substations for an International Airport in Qatar

Project Overview

HBTP supplied 20 + 10 substations units of SCB13-1600/10 transformers for an airport expansion increasing capacity to 60 million passengers annually in Doha, Qatar. The project represents a significant deployment in the international airport sector, requiring transformers engineered for reliable operation under demanding conditions.

Project Background

International airports are critical infrastructure requiring maximum power reliability for runway lighting, terminal systems, baggage handling, and air traffic control. This expansion project demanded robust power distribution for Qatar's extreme desert climate with 50°C ambient temperatures.

Customer Requirements

1600kVA dry-type transformers, 10kV/0.4kV ratio, F1 fire resistance, 50°C ambient rating, low noise for terminal areas, box-type substations with integrated cooling for outdoor airfield applications, and compliance with IEC and Qatari standards.

Our Solution

HBTP supplied its SCB13-series transformers, engineered specifically for international airport applications. The high-quality CRGO silicon steel core with step-lap mitered joints minimizes no-load losses, while copper windings provide enhanced short-circuit withstand capability and long service life.
