HBTP supplied 18 units of SCB10-1600/10 transformers for a major container terminal expansion handling 30 million TEUs annually in Singapore. Singapore's port infrastructure is critical to global trade. This expansion project added new automated stacking cranes and reefer container yards, requiring reliable power distribution in a tropical, high-humidity coastal environment with salt-laden air.

Customer Requirements

Dry-type transformers for indoor substation installation, 1600kVA capacity, 10kV/0.4kV ratio, suitability for 100% humidity tropical climate, IP23 protection, corrosion resistance for coastal environment, and compliance with Singapore SS standards and PUB regulations.

Our Solution

HBTP supplied its SCB10-series transformers, engineered specifically for container port applications. The high-quality CRGO silicon steel core with step-lap mitered joints minimizes no-load losses, while copper windings provide enhanced short-circuit withstand capability and long service life.

Quality & Testing

All units passed humidity cycling tests to verify performance in tropical conditions. Salt spray testing confirmed corrosion resistance. Routine tests included winding resistance, turns ratio, no-load loss, load loss, and partial discharge measurements.

Delivery & Installation

The 18 units were delivered in two shipments to align with the port's phased expansion. HBTP provided installation manuals and training for the port's maintenance team.
