HBTP supplied 15 + 6 substations units of SCB13-1250/10 transformers for a 2,000-bed tertiary care hospital complex in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The project represents a significant deployment in the healthcare sector, requiring transformers engineered for reliable operation under demanding conditions.

Project Background

Modern hospitals require exceptionally reliable power distribution to support critical care equipment, operating theaters, and life-support systems. This 2,000-bed facility is one of the largest medical centers in the Middle East, demanding N+1 redundancy, low noise levels, and fire-safe construction throughout.

Customer Requirements

Dry-type F1 fire-resistant transformers, 1250kVA capacity, ultra-low noise (≤55dB(A)), 10kV/0.4kV ratio, IEC 60076-11 compliance, and box-type substations for outdoor installation with 50°C ambient rating for the UAE climate.

Our Solution

HBTP supplied its SCB13-series transformers, engineered specifically for healthcare applications. The high-quality CRGO silicon steel core with step-lap mitered joints minimizes no-load losses, while copper windings provide enhanced short-circuit withstand capability and long service life.

Quality & Testing

Special attention was given to sound level testing, with each transformer measured in an acoustic chamber to verify the ≤55dB(A) requirement. All units passed partial discharge tests at ≤10 pC and F1 fire resistance certification.

Delivery & Installation

The equipment was delivered in phased shipments to align with the hospital's construction timeline. HBTP provided on-site commissioning support and conducted 72-hour load tests before hospital opening.
