32 Units of SCB13-2500kVA Dry-Type Transformers for a 50MW Hyperscale Data Center in the Netherlands

Project Overview

HBTP supplied 32 units of SCB13-2500/10 transformers for a 50MW hyperscale cloud computing data center in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The project represents a significant deployment in the data center sector, requiring transformers engineered for reliable operation under demanding conditions.

Project Background

Amsterdam is one of Europe's leading data center hubs due to its strategic location, excellent fiber connectivity, and favorable climate for free cooling. This 50MW facility serves as a key node for European cloud computing and content delivery networks, requiring highly reliable, fire-safe power distribution with N+1 redundancy.

Customer Requirements

Critical requirements included: dry-type construction for indoor installation, F1 fire resistance class, low partial discharge (≤10 pC), high efficiency (SCB13), 10kV/0.4kV voltage ratio, compliance with Eurocode and CE marking, and 24/7 reliability with minimal maintenance.

Our Solution

HBTP supplied its SCB13-series transformers, engineered specifically for data center applications. The high-quality CRGO silicon steel core with step-lap mitered joints minimizes no-load losses, while copper windings provide enhanced short-circuit withstand capability and long service life.

Quality & Testing

Each transformer underwent routine and type tests per IEC 60076-11, including temperature rise, impulse withstand, partial discharge, and sound level measurements. All units were CE marked and accompanied by Declaration of Conformity documents for EU market access.

Delivery & Installation

The 32 units were delivered in sequenced batches to match the data center's phased commissioning. HBTP engineers provided on-site support for initial energization and conducted thermal imaging inspections during the first 72 hours of operation.
